Although many institutions and hundreds of individuals were involved in the efforts to reduce gang and gun violence in Boston, the process began with a handful of people choosing to do something different in the way they did their jobs, or in the way they perceived their roles in the community.
Following are excerpts from oral history interviews with many, but not all, of the individual partners involved (see navigation on the left). Each person comments on what he learned about the key elements that it takes to make this strategy work: the principles, ideas, philosophies, decisions, actions and obstacles to overcome.
